På denne workshopen deler den colombianske designeren og kulturformidleren Angélica Maria Castillo Balanta fra Miss Balanta Turbans & Headwear kunnskap om hodeplaggenes kulturelle, historiske og politiske betydning.
Vi diskuterer hvordan tradisjon, tilhørighet og rettferdighet kan komme til uttrykk gjennom klær og estetiske praksiser. Hvilke historier og erfaringer bæres videre gjennom hodeplagg i afrodiasporiske tradisjoner? I dette arrangementet utforsker vi turbaner og hodeplagg som uttrykk for identitet, spiritualitet, motstand, minne og kulturell gjenoppretting.
Ta med ditt eget hodeplaggstoff. Du kan også kjøpe hodeplagg (headwraps) fra Miss Balanta. Anbefalte mål for stoffet: lengde (150 - 200 cm) (51 - 81 cm), og bredde 50-80 cm.

Lecture and Turban Workshop: Reclaimed and Reimagined Cultural Heritage with Miss Balanta
In this workshop, Colombian designer and cultural educator Angélica Maria Castillo Balanta of Miss Balanta Turbans & Headwear shares knowledge about the cultural, historical, and political significance of headwraps and headwear. Together, we will explore how tradition, belonging, and justice can be expressed through clothing and aesthetic practices.
What stories and experiences are carried forward through headwear in Afro-diasporic traditions? This event explores turbans and head coverings as expressions of identity, spirituality, resistance, memory, and cultural restoration.
Bring your piece of wrapping. You can also buy some ready to wear headwraps from Miss Balanta. Recommended cloth/ fabric dimensions: length (150 to 200 cm) (51 to 81 cm), width( 50-80 cm).
