I anledning Black History Month, inviterer vi til visning av Raoul Pecks prisbelønte film Lumumba (2000). Filmen forteller historien om Patrice Émery Lumumba, Kongos første demokratisk valgte statsminister, og hans kamp for uavhengighet fra belgisk kolonistyre. Gjennom et sterkt politisk og visuelt uttrykk belyser filmen kolonialismens arv, maktkamp og konsekvensene av kampen for frihet og selvbestemmelse.

Arrangementet er i samarbeid med True North Tromsø og Aurora Kino Fokus.

As part of Black History Month Norway, we invite audiences to a screening of Raoul Peck’s acclaimed film Lumumba (2000). The film tells the story of Patrice Émery Lumumba, the first democratically elected Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and his struggle for independence from Belgian colonial rule.

Through a powerful political and visual narrative, the film explores the legacies of colonialism, international power struggles, and the profound consequences of the fight for freedom and self-determination. Widely regarded as one of the most important historical films about African decolonization, Lumumba offers a compelling reflection on resistance, leadership, and the continuing impact of colonial history.

Hosted at Aurora Kino Fokus in collaboration with True North Tromsø. The screening will open with introductory remarks by representatives from Black History Month Norway and True North Tromsø.
