Hva betyr oppreisning, og hvilken betydning har det for Afrika, den afrikanske diasporaen og Sápmi?

Gjennom to foredrag og en påfølgende panelsamtale utforsker vi hvordan historiske urettferdigheter fortsatt preger samfunn i dag, og hvordan arbeidet for oppreisning kan bidra til sosial rettferdighet og forsoning.

Dr. Liliane Umubyeyi (African Futures Lab) deler perspektiver på oppreisning i afrikanske og diasporiske kontekster. Deretter holder samisk politiker Elle Márgget Nystad et foredrag om oppreisningens betydning for samisk politisk arbeid og erfaringer fra NSR-U.

Etter foredragene inviteres publikum til en samtale om hva erfaringer fra Afrika, diasporaen og Sápmi kan lære oss om historisk urett, oppreisning og veier videre mot en mer rettferdig framtid.

What does reparations mean, and why does it matter for Africa, the African diaspora, and Sápmi?

Through two keynote talks and a panel discussion, we explore how historical injustices continue to shape societies today and how reparations can contribute to justice and reconciliation.

Dr. Liliane Umubyeyi (African Futures Lab) will share perspectives on reparations in African and diasporic contexts, followed by a lecture by Sámi politician Elle Márgget Nystad on the significance of reparations in Sámi political advocacy.

The event concludes with a conversation on what Africa, the African diaspora, and Sápmi can teach us about historical injustice, reparations, and pathways toward a more just future.
