Hva betyr oppreisning, og hvilken betydning har det for Afrika, den afrikanske diasporaen og Sápmi?

Gjennom to foredrag og en påfølgende panelsamtale utforsker vi hvordan historiske urettferdigheter fortsatt preger samfunn i dag, og hvordan arbeidet for oppreisning kan bidra til sosial rettferdighet og forsoning.

Foredragsholderne Dr, Liliane Umubyeyi (African Futures Lab) og artist/forsker på urfolksrett Ánde Somby (UiT) deler perspektiver på hvordan oppreisning både inspirerer og utfordrer arbeid for sosial rettferdighet. I den etterfølgende samtalen møter de samisk politiker Elle Márgget Nystad med flere for å diskutere hvordan erfaringer fra Afrika, diasporaen og Sápmi kan gi forståelse for historisk urett og rettferdighet.

What does reparations mean, and why does it matter for Africa, the African diaspora, and Sápmi?

Through two keynote talks and a panel discussion, we explore how historical injustices continue to shape societies today and how reparations can contribute to justice and reconciliation.

Speakers Dr. Liliane Umubyeyi (African Futures Lab) and Indigenous rights scholar and artist Ánde Somby (UiT) will share perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of reparations. They will be joined by Sámi politician Elle Márgget Nystad and others to discuss what Africa, the diaspora, and Sápmi can learn from each other in addressing historical injustice.
